Asteroid B-612

Emerging from the Australian underground in the early ’90s, Asteroid B-612 became known for their no-compromise approach to rock, blending Detroit punk energy, Aussie pub rock soul, and garage rock grit. From sweaty pub shows across Australia to their cult following in the U.S.A. and Europe, the band became a seminal name in underground rock circles, known for their high-octane live performances, explosive guitar work, and raw, heartfelt songwriting.

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MORE THAN 25 YEARS THERE IS A NEW ALBUM by Australia’s seminal underground rock´n´roll band ASTEROID B612.

Born outta a simple desire to jump back on a stage with some old mates comes the new album ´Roads, Stars´ by Asteroid B612. Recorded in Australia and Spain during 2024, upon listening you will hear the band at their pulsating best featuring all the hallmarks that made them underground rock´n´roll favorites throughout the 90s while touring Australia and America.

Featuring the forever rocking guitar sounds of band founder/guitarist/songwriter Johnny Casino, the raw yet soulful voice and lyrics of original singer (first 3 albums) Grant McIver, and the locomotive drumming of long time (since 1993) drummer Ben Fox. Along with new members, guitar player Xabi Garre (Senor No, Roy Loney, Cheetah Chrome), bass player Juancho Lopez (Paul Collins, Peralta, Kurt Baker Combo). You’ll hear the band in fine form.

What started out as a bet on a long shot turned into an album that might just be their best work and coming after a 25-year dry spell!

After a 9 date tour of Spain in 2022 the question was raised ¨ would we like to do this again?¨ The answer was YES!! But not willing to rest on their back catalogue of 6 albums during the 90s, the songwriting partnership of John A Spittles (Johnny Casino) and Grant McIver got to work on a new idea or two, in order to blow some fresh air into the bands lungs. After a few months of ´long distance´ songwriting (Johnny living in Spain and Grant in Australia) with the help of Benny Fox’s solid groove 2 songs turned into 10 and ’Road, Stars’ was born…….well kinda.

Johnny had a planned trip to Australia to visit family and play some concerts. So while ¨downunder¨ the 3 members got back into the rehearsal room for the first time in more than 25 years and fleshed out the songs. Three days later the basic tracks for the album were recorded. ´The tapes´ then made their way back to Spain, where Xabi and Juancho would record their guitar and bass parts at Hendrik Rover’s Studio ´Guitar Town´ in Santander. Johnny’s longtime ´bro´ and recording engineer Pepe Gomar (Estudio Tigruss) would mix the album and Mike Mariconda (Raunch Hands, Devil Dogs, New Bomb Turks) would master the album.

‘Road, Stars’ gives you 10 classic yet fresh sounding Asteroid B612 songs, never straying too far from the bands original sound and their wild´n´passionate rock´n´roll feel.
